Our 1501 Health cohort company, MapHabit, a neuroscience-based assistive technology provider released results from a study in partnership with the LuMind IDSC Foundation (LuMind IDSC). The study shows highly statistically significant improvements in independence and quality of life in children with Down Syndrome, and their support circle.

The manuscript has been published in PLOS ONE, a peer-reviewed journal. Here are a few key findings:

  • > Significant positive changes, including higher adaptive behavioral skills and improvements in quality of life relating to the speed/ability to complete activities of daily living (ADL).
  • > Majority of quality-of-life scores significantly improved (13 out of 18 areas), including cooperation, memory, and enjoyment.
  • > High satisfaction among parents who noted reduced stress and decreased caregiver burden.
  •

“This is a first-of-kind read-out on the benefit of visual mapping within a scalable, assistive technology platform for caregivers and children with Down Syndrome,” said Matt Golden, MapHabit’s CEO and Co-Founder.

Only 35% of Medicare participants know how to connect to their health care provider via telehealth, as noted by Fortune, which makes it challenging to start or monitor their treatment plans. Liz Hamburg, founder of 1501 Health cohort graduate Candoo Tech offers commentary on how to alleviate this issue, one being her technology trainings designed for older adults.

Sharecare | June 6, 2023

The Brief:

Pair Team founders Cassie Choi and Neil Batlivala were recently featured on an episode of See You Now, a podcast produced by Johnson & Johnson.

The episode, titled "Paired for Primary Care" explores how the duo built a remote, tech-enabled clinical team to provide virtual assistance and automation of clinical operations, care coordination, and outreach activities — all so onsite primary care teams can build trust and focus on what really matters: people, relationships and health.

Building on the good momentum, the podcast episode was nominated for a Sharecare 2023 Award in the Disruptors in Healthcare category.

"Why the Fertility Market is Poised to Explode"

Second Opinion | June 7, 2023

The Brief:

In this piece, authors Christina Farr and Leslie Schrock explore the potential of the fertility market. As noted, in April of 2023, the WHO reported that 1 in 6 people globally are affected by infertility at some point in their lives.

One opportunity they identify is through self-insured employers, and mentioned our 1501 Health cohort Frame Fertility as a potential solution:

"What we’re seeing work particularly well these days is allowing employers to offer a flexible pool of capital for employees to use as a way to help finance their fertility treatment. Some employers might determine that they’ll reimburse up to $10,000, while others are more generous. And that pool of funds can be used towards surrogacy, IVF, IUI, fertility medicines, or other treatments."
